Making Your Own Recipe Organizer Is As Easy As 1-2-3

Everyone, at some point in their lives, runs across recipes that they want to use again or save for a special occasion. Whether you got the recipe from a family member, friend, or acquaintance in the book club, if it is worth holding onto, you need somewhere to store it. A Recipe organizer, while you can purchase one, is easy to make and is the best way to store your favorite recipes.

This being said, we have all lost a recipe, here or there, and have had to hunt to find one similar (sometimes easier said than done). You, obviously, tried to save the recipe for a reason. So, why on earth would you not store it somewhere you know it will not be lost or misplaced? Simply creating recipe drawer is not good enough.

There is a way around this; make a recipe organizer that holds all of your favorite recipes in the order that is easy for you to find them. There are some people who like to cook based on the type of dish they are cooking, for example, American. It would be best for these individuals to store their recipes based on exactly that, type of dish.

There are those; however, who have a thing about memorizing the name of a given recipe, and cook based on that. For these individuals it is probably best for them to store their recipes alphabetically. This allows them to easily sift through their recipes by letter, making their cooking experience much less painful.

Try, for example, the type of meat that is in a given recipe. You could organize your recipes by chicken, turkey, ground beef, roast, etc. This method is preferred, by many, over alphabetical and type of dish. But again, use your imagination. Everyone is different, what works for you will probably not work for your neighbor.

Once you have figured out what works best for you, it is time to figure out what you are going to store your recipes in. You want to make sure it is big enough to store your recipes, but not so big that it is obtrusive. You also need to make sure that it allows for your chosen labeling system, regardless of what you chose. Basically, a shoe box with no labels will not work; unless you are doing one shoebox per type. Whatever works for you is what you should go with.

While recipe organizers can be found in many different stores, it is often beneficial to make and create your own. This gives you the flexibility to make beneficial to you. Simple organizers may work for some, but many of us have particular ways of doing things. Making your own allows you to do this; you do not have to conform to the norm.
